Entrance Exam Requirement – AMI's Practical Nursing (LPN) Program
As part of the admissions process for the Practical Nursing (LPN) Program at Academia Medical Institute, applicants are required to complete an entrance assessment to help determine academic readiness for the nursing curriculum.
AMI utilizes the Wonderlic Scholastic Level Exam (SLE), a nationally recognized admissions assessment used by many vocational and nursing schools across the United States.
Why We Use the Wonderlic Exam
At Academia Medical Institute, we strive to make the admissions process efficient, fair, and student-friendly.
Unlike other entrance exams such as the HESI Admission Assessment (HESI A2) or the ATI Test of Essential Academic Skills (ATI TEAS), which often require hours of testing, the Wonderlic exam is designed to evaluate a student’s academic potential quickly and effectively.
The Wonderlic SLE helps assess essential skills needed for success in nursing school, including:
- Critical thinking
- Reading comprehension
- Basic mathematics
- Problem-solving ability.
Quick and Convenient Testing
One of the advantages of the Wonderlic exam is its short testing time.
Test format:
- 50 multiple-choice questions
- 12-minute time limit
- Immediate scoring
- Administered during the admissions process.
This streamlined approach allows applicants to demonstrate their academic ability without spending countless hours on lengthy entrance exams.
At AMI, we believe the admissions process should be accessible, efficient, and focused on helping students start their nursing careers sooner.
Minimum Passing Score
Applicants to the practical nursing program must achieve the minimum Wonderlic score required by the institution in order to proceed with the admissions process.
If the minimum score is not achieved, applicants may have the opportunity to retake the exam according to the school’s admissions policy.
When the Exam Is Taken
Students typically complete the Wonderlic entrance exam:
- After submitting an admissions application
- During the admissions interview or campus visit
- Prior to final acceptance into the Practical Nursing program.
Supporting Student Success
Academia Medical Institute is committed to supporting student success from the very beginning of the admissions process. The Wonderlic entrance assessment allows the school to identify applicants who are prepared for the academic demands of nursing education while keeping the admissions experience simple, efficient, and student-focused.
